WHAT'S ONE THING YOU WISH MORE PEOPLE UNDERSTOOD ABOUT TATTOOING?
I wish more people understood that tattoo artists want you to love your tattoo as much as they do. So if you want something changed, or a different size, or different position - speak up! It’s on you forever and so we would rather you tell us what you think so that you walk away happy.
HOW DO YOU APPROACH CREATIVITY IN YOUR WORK?
I have a pretty specific style with being an illustrative artist and so usually people will give me an idea, an approximate size and a placement on their body and then I just run with it. I’ll draw my design the night before so it’s fresh in my mind the next day. I find this is the best way for me creatively.
TATTOOS CAN BE PERSONAL, HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR STYLE WITH YOUR CLIENTS STORY?
People usually book with me because of my style and so they usually resonate with it which helps. It’s a collaboration - between me and my client - no one person has more say than the other.
IF YOU WEREN'T A TATTOO ARTIST, WHAT OTHER CREATIVE PATH WOULD YOU FOLLOW?
I used to be a Pilates instructor before tattooing so I would probably be still doing that. I just honestly don’t know as nothing has ever given me the same level of fulfilment and satisfaction that tattooing has given me. It ticks every box for me.
